Teams Set for Crucial Two-Day Open Test at Indianapolis Motor Speedway

Preparations for the 109th Running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge shift into high gear next week, as all full-time NTT INDYCAR SERIES teams and drivers head to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for a two-day Open Test, scheduled for Wednesday, April 23 and Thursday, April 24, 2025.
The test, held on the historic 2.5-mile oval, gives teams an opportunity to dial in their setups ahead of the biggest race of the year. The event will also feature the Rookie Orientation Program (ROP) and refresher tests for returning veterans.
📅 Test Schedule Overview
Wednesday, April 23
- 10:05 a.m. – Noon: Veteran drivers only
- Noon – 2 p.m.: Rookie Orientation Program & refresher tests
- 2 – 6 p.m.: All participants on track
Thursday, April 24
- 9:30 a.m. – Noon: “High Boost” session (increased engine power, similar to Fast Friday)
- 2 – 5 p.m.: General testing continues
👀 Fans Welcome – Viewing & Amenities
Fans will have access to the Southeast Vista grandstands and the Turn 2 Viewing Mounds throughout both days of testing. Due to IMS Museum renovations, general parking is available in Lot 3P across 16th Street, with ADA parking at the Front Museum Lot. Fans will enter through Gate 3, and IMS staff will assist with safe street crossings.
