Marcus Ericsson delivered a breakthrough moment in qualifying for the Java House Grand Prix of Arlington, securing the first pole position of his NTT INDYCAR SERIES career. The Swedish driver set the fastest time in the Firestone Fast Six session on the new street circuit surrounding AT&T Stadium and Globe Life Field, earning the right to lead the field to green in Sunday’s race.

For Ericsson, the result represents a significant milestone. Despite multiple podiums and race wins during his IndyCar career, including victory in the 2022 Indianapolis 500, pole position had previously eluded him in the series.

The Arlington qualifying result also marks Ericsson’s first pole in any major single-seater category since 2013, when he last started from the front of the grid in the GP2 Series, Formula 1’s primary feeder championship at the time.

The Andretti Global driver showed strong pace throughout the weekend and delivered when it mattered most during the final qualifying segment, navigating the challenging 14-turn temporary street circuit with precision. Being the first driver testing the new one-shot Qualifying segment in the Firestone Fast 6, he nailed his lap and in the end he was over halfa second clear to 4-time champion Alex Palou.

Ericsson will now aim to convert his maiden IndyCar pole into a strong race result on Sunday as the series continues its debut weekend in Arlington, Texas. The 70-lap race marks the third round of the 2026 NTT INDYCAR SERIES season.
