One of the most ambitious schedules in recent memory is already emerging for IndyCar in 2026.
17 races in famous venues, important American markets, and a brand-new international stop in
Canada.

However, a return to Texas Motor Speedway, the resuscitation of the historic Nashville
street circuit, and a high-impact international showcase in Mexico City stand out as three crucial
additions that will genuinely enhance the series.

These additions revive one of IndyCar’s most well-liked contemporary street events, adding to
an already significant oval tradition, and enter a tested, rapidly expanding foreign market. The
outcome? A well-balanced 20-race schedule that promotes IndyCar’s worldwide significance
while paying tribute to its history.

The updated schedule, which includes proposed dates for the three additions and unaltered

Race-by-Race Breakdown

St. Petersburg (Mar 1)
The perfect season opener, a technical street course where momentum is built early and
mistakes linger all year.

Phoenix Raceway (Mar 7)
IndyCar returns to the desert oval with NASCAR in town. A short-track challenge under high
pressure early in the campaign.

Arlington Street Circuit (Mar 15)
A modern city race in a growing Texas market, offering a prime opportunity for fan and sponsor
interaction.

Barber Motorsports Park (Mar 29)
A pure driver’s track. Flowing corners, strategy-heavy racing, and early championship sorting.

Mexico City (Apr 5, Proposed Addition)
IndyCar goes international for the first time in the 2026 season. A race at Autódromo Hermanos
Rodríguez places the series in front of one of the most passionate motorsport fan bases on
Earth. High altitude, high energy, and a major market opportunity with proven event success
through F1 and Formula E.

Long Beach (Apr 19)
IndyCar’s crown jewel street event. Prestige, celebrities, and often a championship-defining
podium.

Texas Motor Speedway (Apr 26, Proposed Addition)
The return of 230+ mph oval racing under the lights. Texas once produced some of the wildest
IndyCar moments, this slot brings back a crucial oval between Long Beach and Indianapolis
prep.

IMS Road Course (May 9)
Month of May begins. Close-quarters, fast-flowing road action as teams shift toward Indy focus.

Indianapolis 500 (May 24)
The Greatest Spectacle in Racing. Full stop.

Detroit Street Circuit (May 31)
Reset after Indy. Tight, aggressive, and unforgiving around the new downtown layout.

Nashville Street Circuit — Original Downtown Route (Jun 14, Proposed Addition)
The party is back in the streets. Crossing the Cumberland River, intense braking zones, and the
energy that made this one of IndyCar’s most exciting recent events before the move to the
superspeedway.

Gateway (Jun 7)
Short-oval precision. Tire strategy meets aero efficiency, typically a title shaping round.

Road America (Jun 21)
America’s Spa. Four miles of scenic chaos.

Mid-Ohio (Jul 5)
Technical, tight, and often the turning point for late-season contenders.

Nashville Superspeedway Oval (Jul 19)
A new identity for Music City in IndyCar, 400 miles on the high-banked concrete bowl.

Portland (Aug 9)
Classic late-season battle with intense opening-corner drama.

Markham, Ontario Street Circuit (Aug 16)
New for 2026. Expands IndyCar’s Canadian foothold beyond Toronto with a modern urban
showcase.

Milwaukee Mile Weekend (Aug 29 & 30)
Doubleheader at America’s oldest operating racetrack, back on the calendar after resurgence
in 2025.

Laguna Seca (Sep 6)
The championship finale. The Corkscrew awaits. Titles won or lost in sand traps and braking
zones.

My final thoughts on this schedule

This new 20-race schedule combines geography, history, and room for expansion. Mexico City
expands IndyCar’s global presence. High-speed oval prestige is restored in Texas. One of the
most thrilling contemporary venues is returning to the classic Nashville street circuit. All without
sacrificing the present schedules integrity.

A modern global calendar, built on classic IndyCar DNA. What are your thoughts? Let us know in the comments or via DM on Instagram
